Uche Ignites Comfortable Crystal Palace Win at Irish Side Shelbourne.
Despite entering their first-ever continental adventure, Crystal Palace are adapting very quickly. Without star figures like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles departed Dublin with a comfortable result that virtually secures them a place in the Conference League qualifying rounds.
Another victory in their upcoming match against Finland's KuPS should be sufficient to seal straight passage to the last 16, especially following a previous stumble against Strasbourg.
Squad Members Seize the Moment
This match provided a platform for several Palace's fringe players to impress. Christantus Uche, in only his second start since joining on loan from Getafe, notched the scoring with a well-taken finish. Forward Eddie Nketiah contributed a another, finding the net for the second game in match.
The Shelbourne side that had concluded their league season proved outmatched against a largely rotated Palace outfit. The visitors were already depleted by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with knee problems.
Control Asserted from the Start
Despite torrential rain in Dublin, Palace quickly established dominance. A slick passing sequence in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's incisive pass, allowed Nketiah to set up Uche for a straightforward finish.
Midfielder Adam Wharton came close minutes later, driving a long-range shot over the bar. Nketiah subsequently appealed for a penalty after bursting into the box, but the official dismissed the protests.

The home side were hanging on for dear life. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to escape a booking for a couple of robust challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards rattled the woodwork with a header from a corner.

The match was as good as over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past some comically weak challenges before coolly dispatching a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.
After the break, coach Oliver Glasner took the chance to rest key individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse came close to scoring his very first touch, but saw his shot blocked.
The youngster was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one attempt strike off each posts before being gathered on the line. Uche then missed a sitter of a chance, indicating there is still room for improvement in his game.
The only worry for Palace was a second-half knock to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This paved the way for 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to make his senior debut, rounding off an otherwise positive evening for the traveling side.
