Two Victims Named in the Ivy League School Shooting as Law Enforcement Persist in Hunt for Perpetrator.

The pair of scholars who were killed in Saturday’s mass shooting at Brown University were honored at the start of the week – while an intensive search for their assailant carried on following the release by local law enforcement of the sole person questioned in the case.

Remembering Ella Cook

The student Ella Cook, a second-year student from Alabama, was remembered as “an incredible, grounded, faithful, bright light”, per the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Birmingham, which paid tribute to her at a gathering on Sunday.

Her role included the vice-presidency of Brown’s chapter of College Republicans of America, as the club stated. The White House press secretary also posted condolences online, saying in part: “There are no words. Keeping in mind her family and friends, especially her parents.”

An International Student

The other deceased individual was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, a citizen of Uzbekistan in his initial year at the prestigious university, according to relatives.

His name was verified by the foreign office of Uzbekistan.

“He was incredibly kind, funny, and smart. He had big dreams of entering the field of neurosurgery and helping people,” his sister, Samira Umurzokova said in a online post.

What Happened

Nine other people were hurt in the violent event in the school of engineering of Brown’s grounds in Providence, during the university's examination week.

Officials stated by the end of Sunday that a 24-year-man arrested in a police operation at a lodging about 17 miles from the university earlier in the day was released from custody.
