The President Invites Relatives of Injured Military Members to the White House

President Trump revealed on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the relatives of a Guard member killed last week to come to the White House.

He noted that he contacted her parents and they were “devastated”.

Background on the Heartbreaking Event

Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was lost her life in a violent incident on Wednesday in Washington DC.

Her colleague, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in serious condition.

Vigils across West Virginia have been held in their honor.

Presidential Invitation

The president said he’s discussed a meeting at the presidential residence for the parents of both members of the state Guard.

“I stated: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a hard experience, arrive at the White House. We’re going to honor Sarah,” Trump told journalists. “And likewise with him, no matter the outcome.”

Public Support

Mourners came together over the past few days at Webster County high school in the state to honor Beckstrom.

Both the soldiers had been fulfilling duties with the military unit as part of Trump’s national effort to aid law enforcement in the capital.

Honoring Beckstrom

“She was the type of pupil that educators desired. She behaved with inner fortitude, a warm expression and a upbeat demeanor that encouraged those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the principal of Beckstrom’s previous school, informed the press. “She was caring, considerate and always eager to support those in need.”

Memorial plans for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.

Judicial Measures and Government Adjustments

Authorities have indicted a twenty-nine-year-old suspect with one count of homicide and charges of attempted murder while armed.

The event caused the government to halt asylum applications and temporarily stop providing entry permits to owners of passports from Afghanistan.

Status of the Airman

Wolfe, a resident of Martinsburg, enlisted in early 2019 and is a graduate of his local high school, per the AP.

He remains under medical supervision and is “battling to survive”, the state’s governor Patrick Morrisey mentioned on television.

Attorney general Pam Bondi informed Fox News Sunday that she also intended to meet with his relatives.

Memory of Sarah Beckstrom

Sarah, from her hometown, graduated from her high school in 2023 and began her service not long after, serving as a military police officer with excellence, as stated by the state guard.

“She had a lot of compassion and she absolutely had bravery,” the governor informed the audience at the service. “Though her time lasted far too short, she has made an impact that’s going to last forever.”
