The Division Is Coming to the Tabletop Gaming World as a Deeply Strategic TTRPG

The intense universe from Tom Clancy’s The Division will be adapted into a tabletop role-playing experience. A collaboration has been formed to develop a tabletop RPG that explores the series' post-pandemic setting. This initiative has been announced, with a crowdfunding campaign scheduled to launch in April of 2026.

"This endeavor aims to deliver the series' unique suspense, tactical intensity, and iconic world-building to the tabletop, offering fans a fresh avenue to experience The Division through immersive storytelling and mission-based gameplay," states an official release.

Launch products are set to feature a beginner's box, core rulebooks, a GM screen, miniatures, and various premium versions.

Delving Into The Division's Dystopian World

In this setting, a deadly virus known as Green Poison was unleashed in New York City, sending the nation into turmoil. As the pandemic escalates, civil order breaks down and violent factions rise, transforming the urban landscape into a battlefield. To preserve law and order, the government {activate|deploy] The Division, a covert network of sleeper agents. That’s where the agents come in.

Work on the RPG has been in progress for approximately three years, and it is confirmed to be complete. The forthcoming Kickstarter campaign will serve as a preorder system to access a broader market, specifically in North America. Manufacturing will start right after the campaign, with shipping expected for the latter part of 2026.

An Innovative Tactical System: The GRIS System

An early look at the game's rules confirms it employs 10-sided dice exclusively through its new GRIS system, encouraging a streamlined and strategic style. Players leverage skills or traits to roll a handful of dice, usually from one to five d10s.

  • Instead of summing the total, participants choose a single “resolution die” from the group.
  • This die is then compared against a set challenge number.
  • Rolling a perfect 10 triggers special effects, such as increased harm or boosted support.

Engagements Emphasize Tactical Placement and Situational Insight

Battles stress placement and environmental awareness, mirroring the video games. Elements like cover, elevation, or line of sight directly influence dice rolls. This mechanic seems built to reward coordination and smart positioning instead of raw numbers.

A Thematic Health System

The way health is tracked introduces a compelling thematic twist. Operatives have a wound threshold; sustaining too much damage weakens their capabilities by decreasing the size of their dice pool.

  1. At zero health, an agent is downed, but they’re not unconscious.
  2. They may still crawl and take limited actions, emulating the "downed" state seen in many shooter games.
  3. Any agent in this state must consult a trauma table, potentially gaining lingering conditions like shock or crippling injuries.

A Ready-to-Play Adventure

A free introductory rulebook will be released in the near future. It includes a pre-made starting adventure called Ashes of Murray Hill. In this mission, the group lead the hunt for a missing medical team and must thwart an attack by the notorious Rikers gang, who have taken over that Manhattan district. More specifics and the complete product lineup are expected to be unveiled near the campaign launch.
