Salah Offers Regret to Squad, Reveals Curtis Jones
Curtis Jones has shared that the Egyptian forward apologised to the group of players in the wake of the fallout from his recent interview.
The Fallout
The striker was dropped from a European match subsequent to making accusations and stating his relationship with manager had broken down.
“Mo is his own man and he can say his own stuff,” Jones revealed. “His apology was clear and was like: ‘If my words hurt anyone, I'm sorry.’”
The head coach has previously declined to disclose on whether he was apologised to from the 33-year-old forward.
Moving Forward
The player stated that the dressing room atmosphere was unchanged. “He was the exact same Mo, he had a big smile on his face and we all treated him normally,” the midfielder explained.
Jones also implied that a competitor wanting to play is less of an issue. “I get that there are certain ways you can handle situations,” he said. “Yet, should someone be happy to just not start, then I think that’s concerning.”
On-Field Response
The team's performance have remained strong in the period after the interview fallout. Jones believes the Salah's words were not designed to cause disruption.
“In moments of frustration, it’s always been from a place of caring,” the midfielder stated. “It's behind us and we’re uniting strongly, performing and securing victories.”
