Manchester United Poised to Sign Germany Striker Lea Schüller away from the Bavarian Giants
The Women's Super League club are finalising sealing the deal for prolific Germany forward Lea Schüller in a permanent move away from Bayern Munich.
A Major Signing for the WSL Side
The forward, with half a year remaining on her contract, has been a consistent goal-getter for both club and country. She has scored more than 100 goals for Bayern and scored 54 times in 82 caps for her country. This signing is viewed as a marquee coup for the Women’s Super League side.
Her exit from Munich has been anticipated after she appeared to be holding back emotions while applauding the German club’s fans following a victory over Bayer Leverkusen this month.
It was reported in December that the Frauen-Bundesliga was losing one of its leading strikers. Per reports, all the paperwork for the move are now finalised.
Consistent Goalscoring to Boost United's Attack
The experienced striker's arrival is expected to provide a significant uplift to United’s attacking options. She has been remarkably consistent with her finishing in Germany’s top flight.
- Over seven consecutive seasons, including the last term, she reached at least a double-digit tally of league goals.
- She claimed the top scorer award in 2021-22 season with a haul of 16 goals.
Building Steam at Carrington
The acquisition of Schüller’s signature coincides with a period when United appear to be gathering positive momentum.
Recent performances include qualifying for the European knockout phase playoffs as a seeded team and a victory in the Conti Cup quarter-finals.

- The signing of Sweden right-back Hanna Lundkvist on a multi-year deal.
- The new deal for Japan midfielder Hinata Miyazawa, a fan favourite since joining in 2023.
On Miyazawa’s new deal, a senior figure commented: “Miyazawa is now a critical part to the way we play. Her understanding of the game and skill enables her and the team to control and dictate play from central areas.”
The new defender, having joined from a side from the NWSL, said: “You can sense how much they [United] have grown in the last few years, playing in one of the most competitive leagues in the world and performing in the top European competition.”
